The City Council has now heard some very good arguments from us. Going forward, we need to show them how many people support these ideas. We need to show the City Council that our side has numbers!
To the City Council: As you consider HALA and the Comprehensive plan, I urge you to:
Please adopt policies that will make Seattle an inclusive, attractive city that is affordable and livable for all.
- Reject citywide upzones. "one-size-fits-all" solutions do not respect the unique needs of individual communities.
- Don't repeal neighborhood planning in the comprehensive plan. Communities must have a voice in how they grow.
- Preserve existing affordable housing, which must be a part of any city-wide solution.
- Require developers to contribute their fair share with impact fees for infrastructure.
- Be realistic about parking. Someday we may not need cars, but today we do.
- Protect trees and green space, which are our legacy to our children.
- Handle "First Things First!" Solve existing problems before making them worse with increased density.
Please adopt policies that will make Seattle an inclusive, attractive city that is affordable and livable for all.
